BEFORE WE GET STARTED...
a little bit about me...
“There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot, but there are others who, thanks to their art and intelligence, transform a yellow spot into the sun.” - Pablo Picasso Originally from downstate Illinois, I took a leap of faith at the age of eighteen and moved to the big city to attend DePaul University. After attaining my B.A. in graphic design and electronic media arts, I worked in the graphic design field for several years before returning to the classroom. In 2009, I graduated from Columbia College with my M.A.T. and immediately began teaching elementary students at Schaumburg District 54. I had finally found my calling… After four amazing years there, I was presented with the opportunity to start a brand new school in Chicago, Disney II Magnet High School. An extension of the original Disney II, I was blessed to build an award-winning art department for grades 7-12 from the ground-up. With this great responsibility, however, came very long hours not so conducive to my growing family. Enter Lincoln Junior High. As I enter my third year here in District 69, I can honestly say I feel like I have found my home. Between the diversity of the community, the support of the fine arts district-wide and my inspiring students, this art teacher is one lucky lady! Look out, LJHS, I'm here for the long-run. When I am not living the dream in my art room, I enjoy dancing, traveling and spending time with my husband, daughter Emerson and lil man Griffin. I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the LJHS family and look forward to collaborating with students, community members and staff to offer our students as many exciting arts experiences as possible. Please always feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or moments of pure joy! |
